Wheaton South to Hire New Boys Basketball Coach
Pending board approval, Wheaton South will Bob Szorc as its new basketball coach and math teacher.
The District 200 school board will vote to approve Bob Szorc as the new Wheaton Warrenville South boys basketball coach and math teacher at its next meeting on May 11.
Szorc previously coached at Rock Island Alleman High School. He was the head coach of the boys basketball team and the assistant varsity coach of the baseball team for the past two years. As the head basketball coach at Rock Island Alleman, his team has won back-to-back regional titles and had a Sweet 16 finish this season.
Prior to coaching at Rock Island Alleman High School, Szorc taught and coached at Marmion Academy in Aurora and has coached basketball for a total of eight years. He attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. According to Szorc, “Wheaton Warrenville South High School has a great tradition of generating student athletes. My hope is that the basketball program can continue the academic standards and athletic success that have become part of the school environment.”

Officials at WWSHS are also looking forward to Szorc joining the team. Mike Healy, Wheaton South's athletic director, said, “We are extremely excited to have Bob Szorc as our new Head Boys Basketball Coach. In our interview process, Bob showed a great vision for the future of our basketball team. More importantly, he showed a passion for continuing the strong development of our students in their education and athletic abilities.”
