Wheaton Streetscape Project: Officials Break Ground
The extensive Wheaton Main Street overhaul will last about 4 years.

WHEATON, IL — With hardhats on and shovels in hand, Wheaton officials broke ground on the city's much-anticipated streetscape project Friday. Mayor Michael Gresk joined city council members, designers, and engineers to scoop up the first symbolic shovelful of dirt as construction on the extensive project begins.
The project started with repairs to underground utilities and water mains in fall 2017. Other upgrades including revamped lighting, signing, and sidewalks. A major change will involve moving Martin Memorial Plaza and installing an outdoor fireplace and a new water feature.
Wheaton's Streetscape Project is expected to take about four years to complete.
