Wheaton Streetscape Project To Start Next Phase In March
The next phase of the project includes widening sidewalks, adding bike racks, and making the streetscape more pedestrian-friendly.

WHEATON, IL — With spring approaching, it's time for Wheaton to get to work on the next phase of its ongoing streetscape project. The city will start the third phase of the ongoing work on March 2 and will include widening sidewalks, adding bike racks, planting trees and introducingother pedestrian-friendly amenities.
Work will start on Main Street north of the railroad tracks and will be broken up into four stages to last through fall 2020. The first stage, which will last through April 2020, will include adding water mains and performing work on storm sewers and other utilities on Main Street between Illinois and Seminary.
The second stage, which kicks off in April, will involve work on the west side of Main between Illinois and Seminary. In June, work will move to the east side of Main between Illinois an Seminary for stage three.

Stage four of this phase of streetscape work will be done in September 2020 and will include laying asphalt and striping pavement on Main Street from Illinois to Seminary.
City officials say a temporary four-way stop sign will be in place at Main and Willow for roughly six months while work is done on traffic signals.
