Wheaton Woman Wins $7.25 Million Jackpot, Stays Surprisingly Chill About It

Marceline Lacson, of Wheaton, won $7.25 million on the Illinois Lottery Jackpot. When she found out she won, she was eerily calm.

WHEATON, IL — A Wheaton woman is $7.25 million richer after winning the Illinois Lottery's Jackpot. How'd she react? Marcelina Lacson didn't react like most people would after she found out she was the winner of the July 31 drawing. In fact, she was pretty much unfazed.

Lacson said she was much more ecstatic when the Chicago Cubs won the world series in November. When she took her ticket to the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines to cash it in, Lacson told the staff, "I have been surprisingly calm about winning this prize."Lacson, who has lived in Wheaton for nearly 40 years, bought her winning ticket at DuPage Pantry Plus at 238 N. Gables Blvd. in Wheaton.

The lucky winner says she has always played the same numbers, but she didn't even rush to cash in her ticket, which matched all six winning numbers. The day after the drawing, the winning ticket was still unclaimed.
