The training comes after an April 12 incident in Philadelphia in which two black men were arrested for loitering after sitting in the store and refusing to leave when employees asked. The manager called police after the men, who were waiting for a friend, did not leave.
The men, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson, reached a settlement with Starbucks for an undisclosed amount. They also reached a settlement with Philadelphia for $1 apiece. As part of the settlement agreement, city officials must start a $200,000 program to help young entrepreneurs.
