Windows Smashed, Cars Burglarized In Wheaton: Cops

The burglars also attempted to smash windows on several other cars, police say.

WHEATON, IL — Police in Wheaton are investigating a series of car burglaries that took place at the start of July. In one burglary, items were stolen from an unlocked car; in the other incident, multiple cars were burglarized after their windows were smashed.

The first burglary took place in the 100 block of E. Willow Ave. on July 1, according to police. The victim told police that a suspect or suspects had gotten into their unlocked car sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and had stolen cash and a checkbook.

On July 3, several residents reported that their car windows had been smashed while their vehicles were parked in a lot near the intersection of Crescent and Williston. The burglars reported took change from those vehicles and tried to smash the windows on several other cars, police say.
