Winning $50,000 Powerball Ticket For Lifelong West Chicago Resident

Steven Tinnes of West Chicago bought his winning $50,000 Powerball ticket at the Marathon gas station at 139 West Washington Street.

WEST CHICAGO, IL — When a West Chicago man walked into a Marathon gas station last week to buy his Powerball ticket, he had no idea he would wind up $50,000 richer. Steven Tinnes won $50,000 with a Quick Pick ticket that matched four numbers and the Powerball number on the drawing for May 24, 2017. The winning numbers were 28-32-33-38-62 and the Powerball number was 15.

Tinnes, who said he often buys a Powerball ticket when the jackpot is high, picked up his winning Illinois Lottery ticket at the Marathon Gas Station at 139 West Washington Street in West Chicago. That gas station will receive a reward of $500 for selling the winning ticket.

When Tinnes went to claim his prize at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines, he said, “I’m going to spend this money on some home improvement projects and buy my wife a new car.”
