Woman Accused Of Stabbing Man In Winfield: Report

WINFIELD, IL — A 41-year-old woman has been accused of using an eight-inch knife to stab a man she knew in Winfield Monday. Ziia C. Rizzo, of Chicago, was previously convicted in 2016 of battery against the same man, Daily Herald reports.

Police say the man fell asleep watching television around 1 a.m. and was woken up by Rizzo yelling at him. Rizzo is accused of stabbing the man in the leg and telling paramedics who arrived later that he had fallen down the stairs.

According to police, a knife was later found on the couch tucked under a blanket. Rizzo has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held in DuPage County Jail on $75,000 bond.
