Woman Accused Of Torching Townhome, Stabbing Resident Held On $2 Million Bond: Police
Chevaz Odio, 28, of Elgin, is charged with setting fire to a Roselle townhome after allegedly breaking in and stabbing a female occupant.

ROSELLE, IL — Bond has been set a $2 million for a woman accused of setting fire to a home in Roselle and attacking one of the residents. Chevaz Odio, 28, of Elgin is charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated arson, one count of home invasion and one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle in connection with the incident, which took place Tuesday.
According to a statement from the DuPage County State's Attorney General's Office, fire crews responded to a call reporting a fire on Circle Avenue in Roselle at approximately 2:30 a.m. It is alleged that Odio broke into the home and stabbed a female occupant multiple times before attempting to suffocate her with a plastic bag. The victim reportedly ran to another part of the house and then Odio allegedly set fire to the first floor of the townhouse. Police say Odio fled in a stolen car that was in the home's driveway. The woman she attacked and another resident jumped from the second story of the house to escape the blaze.
DuPage County State's Attorney General Robert Berlin said, "It is alleged that in the early morning hours last Tuesday, Chevaz Odio broke into a Roselle townhome, stabbed one of the occupants and then set fire to the home while two individuals were upstairs, forcing them to jump from a second story window to escape the flames. Thankfully the injuries sustained by both victims are not life-threatening. This outrageous behavior will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force of the law.
