WWS Hires New Wrestling Coach

Wheaton South hired Matt Janosek as its new wrestling coach for next year.

Wheaton Warrenville South has hired Matt Janosek as its new wrestling coach. Janosek will replace retiring coach who took a job as a dean at Wheaton North High School last year. Ferguson decided to coach one more year and led three students to win state titles this past year including , who brought WWSHS their first ever first place win in the IHSA State Competition.

Janosek comes to the position with a great deal of experience. Janosek has been with District 200 for nine years as a Physical Education teacher at WWSHS and has been an Assistant Coach for the WWSHS wrestling team for the past eight years. Janosek also wrestled at North Central College while earning his college degree.

WWS Athletic Director Mike Healy said, “Matt (Janosek) was hired because he has shown the characteristics and attributes that our athletic department represents. He is a true role model to our students and athletes. We will obviously miss Ryan Ferguson, but feel extremely lucky that Matt will carry on the success of the WWSHS wrestling program. Janosek says that “He really appreciates the opportunity and looks forward to continuing to build on a solid team foundation.”
