• Wilmette Police Swear In First Electronic Detection, Comfort Dog (patch.com) — Wilmette residents are getting to know Gizmo, the police department's newly sworn-in electronic detection and comfort dog, who will help locate digital devices in criminal investigations. Beyond evidence work, Gizmo is meant to support victims, witnesses, and first responders, strengthening the department's community outreach and calming presence in difficult situations.
• Twenty Athletes Named to 2026 Men's U23 National Team (usavolleyball.org) — A Wilmette athlete, 6-foot-8 David Wolff, has been named to USA Volleyball's 20-man U23 national team training roster ahead of the NORCECA Pan American Cup. He'll train later this month in Colorado Springs, where 14 players will ultimately be chosen to compete in El Salvador this September.
