• Optima tweaks plans to allow for 5 more units, hopes to begin work this year (therecordnorthshore.org) — Wilmette trustees just approved changes allowing Optima's Lumina project on Green Bay Road to add up to five more condo units and ten parking spaces without altering the building's exterior. The developer still hasn't pulled construction permits but hopes to start work this year, with residents potentially moving in by summer 2028 and some buyers able to combine units into larger homes.
   

• A Winning Formula: New Trier student adds math club to Evanston (therecordnorthshore.org) — A New Trier High School senior who once attended Wilmette Junior High is now expanding math opportunities for local middle schoolers, including running a Kids Inspire Kids math circle at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilmette. He also launched a MATHCOUNTS club at Evanston's Chute Middle School, coaches students for competitions, and is fundraising to support the national MATHCOUNTS Foundation while encouraging more girls to participate.
