Board Approves 5-Story Building in Wilmette
Compromise lowers cost of project to $3.1 million.

A five-story mixed-use development structure is now in the works at 611 Green Bay Road after the Wilmette Village Board gave the project its final approval last week.
The five-story plan is a compromise between the village and M&R Development, which originally had set to build a six-story structure. The amended plan is $1 million cheaper (now $3.1 million), the Wilmette Life reports.
“We went through a sort of substantial reasoning of how we arrived at where we arrived,” said Village President Bob Bielinski. “This board made the judgment that the community was better served by a five-story building, which resulted in a lower purchase price.”
