WILMETTE, IL — Police arrested a third person in connection with an attempted carjacking last week in Wilmette.

Two are charged as adults with attempted vehicular hijacking, and a 17-year-old Chicago boy has been petitioned to juvenile court for the same offense, authorities said.

The trio is accused of approaching a resident as he loaded items into his car shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue, implying they were armed and demanding his car keys, police said. The resident fled on foot to a neighbor's home to call 911, and officers established a perimeter.
