Every (Thunder)Cloud has a Silver Lining
Moms Looking for( and Bringing) the Deal After the Storm.

It's 80 degrees and sunny outside. Today, Plum District moms are not out looking for good deals. Moms - and dads - are busy cleaning out their flooded basements and desperately looking for the silver lining in the recent 7" rain dropped in the North Shore over a two hour period. So moms and dads, look for joy today. Huh? Plum District, the largest daily deal site in America with a mom-salesforce, understands what the local mom is going through - because she herself is a local mom. So moms, the deal you are looking for today is right before your very eyes: your family is safe. Sure, the moldy carpet is making the entire house stink, the thought of another insurance claim is overwhelming, but the kids are safe. The deal today: find the little joys. I took my daily walk around the neighborhood and quickly realized that my damage isn't half the damage of others'. I saw neighbors helping neighbors. I found joy in the Union Pacific crew steadily working on our local railroad tracks. As I stopped to talk to them and thank them for helping repair our tracks on a Sunday, I realized that many of them have flooded basement - one even had a hole in his house from the storm of two weeks ago. But, there they were hard at work. Lastly, I went up to my closet to put on my grubbies to begin the arduous task of moving damaged junk out of the basement and onto the curb, and I found joy. Yes, joy. In something as simply as my closet door filled with love notes. That's mom's deal today: every cloud has a silver lining.
