Tibetan&nbsp;Sound&nbsp;Healing&nbsp;Meditation with Lama Lobsang Palden
The&nbsp;healing&nbsp;sounds of Tibetan instruments such as drums, bells, gongs, singing bowls, cymbals, horns and conch shell permeate the space with resonant medicine, while TSA LUNG – breathing exercises open the channels and awaken the energy.&nbsp;Mantras and prayers expand consciousness, increase awareness and bring peace. A silent meditation induces deep relaxation at the conclusion of this transcendent ritual.
Lama Lobsang Palden is an incarnate lama born in eastern Tibet. He studied all aspects of Buddhist philosophy and practice at Tashi Kyil Monastery, a Gelugpa monastery in Amdo, Tibet. Lama trained in Yantra Yoga and Tibetan massage with Tibetan doctor Rinzen Geshe Nyima, and he inherited intuitive&nbsp;healing&nbsp;gifts from his grandfather, himself a&nbsp;healing&nbsp;lama. Lama Lobsang is a Ngakpa lama, having received the necessary initiations at Lhabrang Monastery. He is a&nbsp;healing&nbsp;practitioner who personally received His Holiness the Dalai Lama's blessing and encouragement to do&nbsp;healing&nbsp;work. He left Tibet at age 18 and lived at Tashi Kyil Monastery in Dehra Dun, India, for 10 years. He has received many teachings from H.H. the Dalai Lama and other Tibetan masters, such as His Holiness Sakya Trizin. He has traveled the world sharing his knowledge and experience, and currently resides in Oak Brook, IL

Two College-wide lectures are associated with this series: <a href="https://advancement.lakeforest.edu/register/WorldNeedsLeaders" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">“The World Needs Leaders” with former U.S. Ambassador Jeff Flake</a> on September 23 and <a href="https://advancement.lakeforest.edu/register/?id=8935bb79-f62f-4326-bd92-0c1a4c32f0c4" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">“MLK and the Voting Rights Act” with Pulitzer Prize winning author Jonathan Eig</a> on September 28. All course participants are invited to attend as part of this series.
Held at the newly renovated Glen Rowan House, this series explores both the constraints on democracy—such as recent democratic backsliding, the Constitution’s roadblocks on majority rule, and the weakening of voting rights to name a few—and strategies to overcome them and enhance democracy in America. Each week will highlight a new topic and the opening and closing sessions will begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments prior to class.
Both the educational content and social receptions will offer opportunities to build community, engage with College leadership, and learn more about ongoing campus initiatives.

Held at the historic Krebs Center for the Humanities, this series will explore the traditions of Renaissance form, ornament, spatial organization, material culture, and visual symbolism that shaped how buildings and objects were made, inhabited, and interpreted. Along the way, participants will apply what they have learned directly to the Krebs Center and its collection, asking how the villa itself accumulates meaning, displays taste, and shapes our encounters with history. Each session will begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments.
