Des Plaines Man Attacked Senior He Followed Off Edens: Police
The 77-year-old motorist told police he had no idea why his alleged assailant began kicking and punching him.

WILMETTE, IL — A Des Plaines man faces a felony charge for allegedly attacking an an elderly motorist he trailed to Wilmette following an encounter on the Edens Expressway, police said. A 77-year-old Northfield man told police he had no idea why the man began following him around 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 24 as he was driving along I-94.
Police believe the incident began as an incident of road rage, but the Northfield man said he was unaware of doing anything that might have caused his attacker to become angry.
The Northfield man stopped in the 1600 block of Elmwood Avenue and tried to call the cops, police were told. At that point, the man who'd trailed him from the freeway began kicking and hitting him as he tried to get out of his car.

The victim was able to provide police with a description of his attacker and his vehicle, including its license plate. After a brief investigation, Wilmette police were able to identify the driver and contact him.
Antonio Kale, 48, of the 9800 block of Bianco Terrace, Des Plaines, turned himself in at the Wilmette Police Department on Feb. 25.

Police said he was subsequently charged with aggravated battery to a senior citizen and released on bond. He could not be reached for comment.
