Drunken Driver's 6-Year-Old Daughter Hurt After He Flips Car: Cops

WILMETTE, IL—A Gurnee man faces child endangerment charges after a Sunday car crash that injured his 6-year-old daughter, Wilmette police report.
John B. Collins, 28, of the 4300 block of Centennial Court, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, misdemeanor driving under the influence, child endangerment and other traffic violations in connection with the accident.

Police responded to two 911 calls at about 2:57 a.m. Sunday, May 15, reporting a car that had left the road and flipped over in the 1300 block of Sheridan Road, police said. At the scene, officers found the car lying on its passenger side in the backyard of a residence in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue.
Police identified Collins as the driver of the flipped car and determined he was intoxicated, according to the report. His daughter suffered from minor facial injuries, and she was taken to Evanston Hospital.
