Evanston Man Texted Cop in Drug Deal: Police
The 24-year-old told Wilmette police he had only intended to rob his supposed customer.

An Evanston man texted a Wilmette police officer earlier this month regarding details of a would be crack cocaine deal.
Demarcus Curtis, 24, of the 1500 block of Dodge Avenue, told police he was only intending on robbing his supposed customer, but since a small number of Tylenol 3 pills with codeine were found in his possession, Curtis was charged with possessing a controlled substance on September 14.
The incident in question was alleged to have taken place shortly before midnight in the 1900 block of Schiller Avenue, according to the Wilmette Life.

An informant had given police a phone number supposedly connected to an Evanston man who would deal crack cocaine and marijuana. The officer sent a text message to the number and arround a drug purchase at the Schiller Avenue address.
Officers were there waiting when Curtis’ car entered an alley in that block.

Curtis and two other people were arrested. The other men were released without charges.
