Prominent zoning attorney who began his career as an Assistant State’s Attorney, served as an Illinois State Representative and longtime Legislative Counsel for ISBA.
Long-standing Board of Director Member for Misericordia Heart of Mercy, and member of Catholic Charities Advisory Board.
Beloved husband for 50 years of Mary Alice Houlihan nee Loftus; adored father of Margaret (Jim) Smith; Kathleen (David) Motzenbecker; Marty (JoAnn) Houlihan; Bridget (Mike) Kennedy; Molly (Peter) McDermott; and Nora Houlihan. Proud grandfather of Jack (5) and Maeve (3) Smith; Fiona (1) Motzenbecker; Grace (10), Claire (8), and Danny (6) Houlihan; Donny (4), Tommy (2), and Joe (3 months) Kennedy; and Patrick (5) and William (2) McDermott. Caring brother of Paul (Kay) Houlihan, Tom “Brian” Houlihan, Mary (John) McCloskey, Mike (Mary) Houlihan, and the late Bill Houlihan and John (Vicky) Houlihan; fo nd brother-in-law of Jim (Jean) Loftus, Cathy (the late Donald) Fennell, Chuck (Susan) Loftus, Joe (Kathy) Loftus, and Peg Klug; uncle of many nieces and nephews, and friend to many.
