Gas Can Lit In Wilmette Driveway: Cops

A bike was reported stolen from the rack at Wilmette Junior High.

The following information is from the Wilmette Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Auto Burglary

An unknown subject entered and rifled through an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 400 block of Alpine Lane between Oct. 9 and Oct. 13, but nothing was reported missing.

An unknown subject entered and rifled through an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1600 block of Forest Ave. between Oct. 11 and Oct. 12, but nothing was reported missing.

On Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. a resident in the 2000 block of Kenilworth reported that an unknown offender entered her unlocked vehicle overnight. The vehicle was parked in the driveway. It appears nothing was taken.

Retail Theft

Officers responded to Walgreens, 3232 Lake Ave. for a theft in progress. While in route officers were advised that the offender(s) were westbound on Lake. The manager reported that a Hispanic male entered the store and went to the vitamin aisle. A second Hispanic male entered with another store’s shopping cart and was stopped. This subject came back in a few minutes later and met the first subject in the vitamin aisle. The first subject filled a red bag with items. Both subjects left the store without paying for the items causing the door theft alarms to activate.

Theft

A resident of the 1600 block of Highland reported that unknown offender(s) stole an Amazon package from his front porch and his new ATM card from North Shore Community Bank. Numerous charges were made in Chicago on the new debit card. The victim was sent a new debit card because the old debit card was believed to have been compromised when a skimmer was place on an ATM machine.

A victim reported that she had dinner at Valley Loge Tavern, 1141 Central Valley on Oct. 14 and then went to Old Orchard Mall, where she realized she had left her I-Phone 6 at the restaurant. She returned to the restaurant but was unable to locate it.

An officer met with a juvenile victim with his father regarding his bike on Oct. 2 at Wilmette Junior High. The victim reported that he left his bike unlocked at the bike rack while in school and when he returned the bike was gone.

The Maintenance Engineer for MacKenzie School reported that unknown offender(s) removed the flag from the flag pole sometime between 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 and 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 16.

Criminal Damage

Officers responded to the 500 block of Lawler on Oct. 14 for a suspicious incident report. The resident reported that unknown offender(s) lit a plastic gas can in the driveway causing black smoke marks on the
brick of the house and damaging a stroller in the driveway.
