( Winnetka, Illinois) [June 18, 2015] Art intersects business on Sat. June 27th and Sun. June 28th when the work of artists from the North Shore Art League goes on display during “Passport to Art and Design”.
This two day creative collaboration between the 90-year-old NSAL in Winnetka – the area’s longest-running non-profit community arts center – and the HWDD – the most concentrated neighborhood of unique, design specialty retailers on Chicago’s North Shore celebrates art and design.The goal: to spotlight the extraordinary talents of community artists by teaming them with design businesses that inspire the lifestyles of their clients.
“We’re always looking for ways to raise the level of awareness about the Art League in the eyes of the community and beyond,” said NSAL Executive Director Linda Nelson. “There are so many accomplished artists at the League and so many artistic stores within the Design District. It seemed an ideal match – shops and galleries that appeal to the artistic-minded and artwork that highlights local talent.”
The event is the perfect vehicle for design businesses to support extraordinary local and other artists, says Paul Zurowski, founding member of the Hubbard Woods Design District and partner in Sawbridge Studios, which features handcrafted furniture and accessories.
“The Design District was created to bring together local, like-minded merchants in personal fashion, home furnishings, antiques, art or architectural services,” says Zurowski.
There will be a Passport to Savings shopping card offering special discounts at local businesses in the Hubbard Wood Design District.
In honor of Get Dwell’s 10 year Anniversary coinciding with this weekend celebration of Art, Get Dwell will offer a special 10% discount on all Handyman Services and or One Free Consultation on a Remodeling Project.
Saturday’s event concludes with a celebration from 5-7pm at one of the participating businesses, award-winning remodeling/home improvement company GET DWELL. Get Dwell will feature music by the extraordinary young musician Will Tilson.
