Holiday Band and Choir Concert

Wilmette Community Band & Trinity Lutheran Church Choir Join together for a special evening of holiday music.

The Wilmette Community Band (www.wilmetteband.org) will present its Annual Holiday Concert on Friday evening, December 12, 2014, at 7:30pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. The church is located at 3637 Golf Rd., Evanston, IL 60203. The event is free and open to all.

Musical selections will be selected from: In the Bleak Midwinter, Russian Christmas Music, Festive Sounds of Hanukkah, An English Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Greensleeves, and Nutmeggers March. The Trinity Lutheran Choir will join with the band to perform Irving Berlin’s Christmas and the Hallelujah Chorus.

ABOUT THE BAND:

The Wilmette Community Band is celebrating its 33rd year of bringing concert band performances to the Northshore area. The Wilmette Community Band is open to all ages and skill levels. The band plays a wide variety of indoor and outdoor concerts throughout the year, at schools, senior communities, parks, and churches. We also perform for various civic events, including the Wilmette Memorial Day parade and ceremony, 4th of July parades in Niles and Evanston, and the Annual Wilmette Historical Society Open House.

The Conductor of the Wilmette Community Band is Dr. David Fodor. He brings over 37 years of conducting experience to the band. He recently retired from Evanston Township High School, where he was a Music Director from 1990 – 2013. Prior to ETHS, Fodor was Assistant Director of Bands at Western Illinois University from 1984-1988; and Band Director at Herscher High School (IL) from 1976-1982.

ABOUT THE TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH CHOIR:

The choir includes singers from the two adult vocal choirs at Trinity, the Sanctuary Choir and the Spirit Ensemble, which provide musical leadership at the two Sunday morning services at the church. Their director, Dan Dauner, has served as Director of Worship and Music at Trinity for the past 15 years. The music program at Trinity also includes an adult handbell choir and a children’s choir, and a band provides musical leadership at the contemporary service, led by the Coordinator of Contemporary Worship, Dave Berger.
