ID Thieves Net $589 In Western Wear, Shoplifters Snatch $828 In Perfume: Wilmette Crimes
Wilmette Police Blotter: July 11 - July 17

WILMETTE, IL — The following information comes from the Wilmette Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those recently arrested. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

Police responded to a report that a car burglary had just taken place in the 900 block of Ottawa Lane shortly before 3:30 p.m. on July 10. Two wallets were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle, but there were no witnesses to the burglary.
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

At 8:48 p.m. on July 11, a Toyota travelling northbound on Green Bay Road struck a pedestrian who was walking eastbound in the south walkway across Green Bay Road at Linden Avenue. The 91-year-old pedestrian was transported to Evanston Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
BICYCLE THEFT
Between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 11, someone stole a gray Diamondback Insight bicycle valued at $340 that had been locked at the Metra Station in the 700 block of Green Bay Road, police were told.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone used the credit card number of a Wilmette resident to buy $589 worth of items at Cavender's Stock Yards, a western wear store in Fort Worth, Texas. The credit card number was also used at two other Fort Worth locations but was declined, police were told on the evening of July 10.
THEFT
Someone reportedly cut through a lock and stole a black or dark gray L.L. Bean mountain bike that had been locked to the wrought iron fence on the south side of a property on the 1200 block of Washington Avenue sometime between 8 a.m. and about 5 p.m. on July 14.
RETAIL THEFT
Two men or boys entered the Caron Pirie Scott store at 3200 Lake Ave. at 6:20 p.m. on July 14 through the east doors and stole nine boxes of Calvin Klein Eternity perfume valued at $828. The thieves fled out the same doors in an unknown direction.
THEFT
Someone stole a salmon-colored Electra Townie 7D women's bicycle with a basket from the backyard of a residence in the 1500 block of Lake Avenue sometime between 9:30 p.m. on July 14 and 12:03 p.m. on July 15. The bike was valued at $499. Police were told that had been a garage sale at the house on the morning of July 15.
BURGLARY TO A MOTOR VEHICLE
Police on regular patrol shortly after 2 a.m. on July 17 found a vehicle had been burglarized on the 600 block of Leamington Avenue. Police said it looked as if someone had entered the vehicle but nothing was immediately determined to be missing.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 20-year-old Chicago man was arrested July 13 at 10:42 p.m. in the 1700 block of Lake Avenue after he was stopped for a traffic offense and found to have been driving with a suspended license.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 43-year-old Wilmette man was arrested July 13 at 12:57 a.m. after being pulled over for an equipment violation in the 1000 block of Chestnut and found to be driving with a suspended license.
DUI
Debra Lynn Miller, 67, of the 7100 block of E. Rancho Vista Drive in Scottsdale, Arizona was arrested July 14 at 9:34 p.m. in the 1200 block of 10th Street after police pulled over her vehicle for an undisclosed traffic violation. Police said she appeared possibly drunk and failed sobriety tests. She was arrested for driving under the influence, taken to the station, issued citations and released.
