New Steppenwolf Theatre Show Scored by New Trier Grads

Alums Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen have been at it for more than 30 years. They credit their success to the alma mater.

The “East of Eden” score was composed by Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen, who make up a sound team that has been around for more than three decades, according to the Winnetka Talk. They met at New Trier.

Milburn and Bodeen’s first project came when they were both at New Trier, in 1971. It was “rooted in a shared love for blues, and desire to build a band, their first, Buckin’ Bob and the Bronco’s, featured ‘50s revival style music, and earned them their first gigs playing at student dances at New Trier and for the Evanston YMCA,” according to the Talk.

The dup credits their ability to stay in business for so long to the Musical Theater Department at New Trier, which was then under the direction of Chairman William J. “Doc” Peterson.

“East of Eden” plays through November 15 at the Steppenwolf Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted in Chicago.
