New Taco Restaurant Opening in Wilmette

A taco restaurant is opening in downtown Wilmette with an owner already familiar to the local business community.

Carla Connett, owner of Hotcakes Cafe, is moving that business two doors down to 1138 Wilmette Ave. and will replace the current location with Trendy Taco, according to the Daily North Shore.

“It will have more of a Mexican Santa Fe feel,” Connett said of Trendy Taco.

Trendy Taco will be “primarily a take-out restaurant with no table service and limited seating inside and outside of the restaurant,” according to the Daily North Shore.

“Everything will be totally fresh just like the other cafes,” said Connett, who also owns Greenbay Cafe in Winnetka.

Connett’s goal is to open Trendy Taco by the fall.
