Special Film Screening of ANTARCTICA: A YEAR ON ICE
Annie Aggens of PolarExplorers will lead a discussion about the changing climate in Antarctica prior to the film's screening.
The Wilmette Theatre invites audiences on a visually stunning journey to the end of the world with the critically-acclaimed, award-winning documentary ANTARCTICA: A YEAR ON ICE (opening January 9th). On January 11th at 4:00pm, the theatre will host a special guest Annie Aggens from Polar Explorers, the premiere polar exploration and polar guiding company that has been guiding polar expeditions for over 20 years, to lead a discussion prior to the film’s screening. Tickets: $7.50

ANTARCTICA: A YEAR ON ICE gives testament to the planet’s natural wonders, humanity’s thirst for adventure, and the emotional extremes that accompany a year within the last pristine wilderness on the planet.
Annie Aggens, author of the Encyclopedia of Outdoor and Wilderness Skills will lead the discussion and share with audience members stories from the polar expeditions she has guided. Aggens often lectures about polar history and expedition travel and founded an organization called ICECAAP to educate people about the effects of global climate change on the Arctic and polar regions. Aggens is on the board of the International Polar Guide Association.

During the discussion, Aggens will talk about how the polar environment is changing and what she and other PolarExplorer guides have experienced and witnessed in terms of changing ice conditions. She will discuss where most of the changes in Antarctica are taking place and what, overall, is happening on the continent.
