Special Spring Leaf Pickup In Village To Begin April 13 For One Week
The village said crews will collect leftover fall leaves during a one-time pickup beginning April 13.
WILMETTE, IL — Wilmette residents have one more chance to put out leaves left over from last fall, with a one-time spring collection set to begin Monday, April 13.
The village announced that Public Works crews will make a single pass through all residential areas during the one-week collection period.
According to the village, this pickup is limited to leaves left from last fall. Crews will not return for a second round, so residents who want their piles collected should have them out starting on Monday, April 13.

Officials suspended leaf collection in December due to heavy snowstorms. At the time, the village asked residents not to bring leaves to the curb.
During the special collection, residents should place leaves at the back of the curb or at the edge of the street, but not in the street. This will help crews move through neighborhoods during the scheduled collection week and avoid problems that could slow pickup.

Residents shouldn't park in front of leaf piles because parked vehicles can block access for Public Works crews during the one-pass collection.
To help make sure material is picked up, the village said sticks and other yard waste should be kept out of the leaf piles. Separating leaves from other debris will help crews complete the collection as scheduled across residential areas.
The collection is scheduled to start Monday, April 13, and continue over one week as crews travel through the village. Because Public Works will make only one pass, residents who wait until later in the week could miss collection if crews have already gone through their neighborhood.
For that reason, residents who still have leaves from the fall season should place them out at the curb at the start of the collection period and make sure piles are accessible.
