Teen Girl Nearly Got Away With Almost $2K Worth of Carson's Merchandise: Cops

The 16-year-old allegedly admitted to police she had stolen the items from the Wilmette store.

A 16-year-old girl from south suburban Harvey is accused of stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from Carson Pirie Scott at 3232 Lake Avenue in Wilmette.

An officer arrived at the scene at 6:15 p.m. on July 28 and allegedly observed the girl exiting the store and get into a waiting vehicle. Meanwhile, a loss prevention agent who had called police identified the vehicle as it drove away.

When stopped, the girl admitted to stealing the merchandise, which was later determined to be at a value of $1,974,99. She was charged with retail theft and petitioned to juvenile court.
