Violent Crime Didn’t Exist in Kenilworth in 2015

FBI report detailing crime reported to police shows nothing violent was reported in Kenilworth in 2015.

KENILWORTH, IL - The village of Kenilworth on Chicago’s North Shore is tiny.

It includes only 2,574 full-time residents, according to the most recent U.S. Census.

But even for a town of that size, crime in Kenilworth is usually really low. Several weeks have went by over the last two years at least in which nothing was listed in a weekly report by local police.

When it comes to violent crime, it just doesn’t exist. At least in 2015 it didn’t.

According to numbers released this week by the FBI in their national Unified Crime Report of offenses known to local police departments, the village of Kenilworth reported no murders, no rapes, no robberies and no aggravated assaults.

The entire year went by without any violence in a municipality that is less than a 30 minute drive from Chicago, which has seemingly become the crime capital of the United States.

In Kenilworth, only 34 cases of property crime were reported all year. There were two burglaries, 31 cases of larceny or theft and one motor vehicle theft report made.
