Wilmette Beaches Closed, Programs Canceled Due To Poor Air Quality
The village said swimming areas at all beaches are temporarily closed while unhealthy air quality affects the region.
WILMETTE, IL — All Wilmette beaches are closed Thursday, and several programs have been canceled due to poor air quality, village officials announced.
Current air quality levels have reached a range considered unhealthy, particularly for children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions, according to the village. Outdoor activities, including swimming, sunbathing, and recreational sports, are not recommended until air quality improves.
All swimming and sailing beaches are closed as well as the Centennial Family Aquatic Center. Footloose The Musical has been rescheduled for Sunday.
