Wilmette Junior High To Host 'LIKE' Film Screening

The IndieFlix documentary will be screened as part of a community-wide discussion on social media consumption among children.

Wilmette Public Schools, in collaboration with New Trier Township social services agencies and school districts including New Trier Township High School District 203, will host a screening of the IndieFlix documentary Like as part of a community-wide discussion on social media consumption among children.

Like (2018) is a 49-minute documentary that addresses social media use and its impact on emotional health. A Q&A session featuring a panel of students and local experts will take place immediately following the screening.

"We understand the prevalence of social media in the lives of our children, but rarely do we take the time to explore and discuss its impact on their overall emotional health and well-being," said Tony DeMonte, Wilmette Public Schools Director of Technology, Information and Safety. "In alignment with our township-wide focus on social-emotional well-being, we hope this screening and discussion will elevate awareness of the impact that social media use has on children."

The event takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 in Wilmette Junior High Auditorium, 620 Locust Rd., Wilmette. The Q&A session features a panel of mental health experts including:
