Wilmette Man Battered Cabbie, Didn't Pay Fare: Cops
Misdemeanor charges await Daniel C. Spence, who was found by police through an ID card he left the alleged victim.

A Wilmette man is charged with skipping out on a Chicago cab fare and battering the driver.
According to Wilmette police, Daniel C. Spence, 24, was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor theft of service and battery at 2:36 a.m. on May 31 at his residence in the 400 block of Central.

Spence was tracked allegedly by the identification card he gave the driver at the start of his ride which indicated his address.
“Contact was eventually made with someone inside the house and the offender was apprehended attempting to elude officers out through the back yard,” according to a report.
