Wilmette Young Cellist to Perform Winning Solo with Midwest Young Artists for March 1st Concerts at Northwestern University
Daniel Kaler, a New Trier High School student from Wilmette is a winner of this year's Walgreens Concerto Competition

(Highwood, Illinois) Midwest Young Artists (MYA) is pleased to announce the details of a trio of youth music ensemble concerts on March 1st at Pick-Staiger Concert on the Northwestern University campus. This day of music begins with the award-winning music school’s youngest orchestras at 1:30pm, followed by choral and orchestral performances at the 2:30 concert as well as Alice Zhang, winner of the MYA junior Division of the Walgreens Concerto Competition with the MYA concert orchestra. The day culminates in a Symphony Orchestra concert at 6:00pm with Walgreens winners Daniel Kaler of Wilmette, Illinois and Daniel Hallett of West Lafayette, Indiana.
“Given our preparation, I think this will be the best concert we have ever played and know you will really enjoy it!” remarked Dr. Allan Dennis, Founder and Director of MYA, when asked about the 6:00pm Symphony Orchestra concert. MYA Senior Division winner Daniel Kaler will be performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto in b minor with the world-renowned MYA Symphony Orchestra. Daniel is himself a member of both the MYA Symphony Orchestra and New Trier High School’s orchestra program.
