• Week 3 IHSA Football Illinois Media Poll (wrmj.com) — Wilmington’s high school football team is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A in the latest Illinois Media Week 3 poll, staying unbeaten at 2-0. The statewide rankings also show where other contenders stand, and include a voter’s ballot that again places Wilmington atop the 2A field. 
• Video shows thieves smashing slot machines at Will County travel center (nbcchicago.com) — A smash-and-grab burglary at the Peotone Travel Center damaged several video gaming machines and netted thieves an unknown amount of cash early Thursday. One lookout reportedly positioned near Wilmington-Peotone Road ties the incident to the Wilmington area, and police are asking anyone who saw two Acuras without plates to contact them.
