The Hadley School for the Blind Welcomes New Woman’s Board President

Lori Mulhern has been named president of the Woman’s Board of The Hadley School for the Blind for the term of 2012-2014. She has served on the Hadley Woman’s Board for eight years, serving as vice president for the past two years. She co-chaired the board’s annual benefit in 2009. Mulhern was introduced to the board by friend and fellow member Katie Stevens of Winnetka. She is proud of the way Hadley has evolved over the years, such as developing an mLearning (mobile learning) initiative to allow students to study on mobile devices anytime, anywhere.

As president, Mulhern plans to grow membership while finding new ways to engage current members. She also wants to explore new opportunities for fundraising and outreach. For example, each year the board holds a holiday card sale fundraiser. This year, the board invited New Trier students to participate in a contest to design the card art. The board chose a local student whose designs will be featured on two different cards. This year, there will also be a new, customized photo card option.

Mulhern is very active in the boards at her children’s schools and athletic teams, such as the Wilmette Wings soccer team. She enjoys tennis, paddle and skiing. She recently moved to Winnetka from Wilmette. She has been married to her husband, Michael, for 22 years. She has two children—Connor, 19 and Meghan, 15.
