Announcement of the Winnetka Music Festival

Information about an exciting new music festival coming to Winnetka

The sound of pedestrians in downtown Winnetka will give way to rock-and-roll, country and indy music for one weekend this summer, as the village hosts a showcase for a dozen of the nation’s most popular emerging musicians.

The Winnetka Music Festival, set for June 23-24, will feature performers who are becoming some of the new breakout names in the music industry. Admission to the festival will be free.

“We want to create a music festival that is truly unique on the north shore,” said festival chairman Scott Myers. “For this first year, we’ll host concerts on Friday evening, as well as all day Saturday. We will feature new, high quality and exciting music performed on the streets and in the parks of one of the prettiest suburbs of Chicago. We’ve already signed five terrific acts, and expect to announce the remainder throughout this spring.”

The Winnetka Music Festival will offer a wide range of music genres performed by a dozen of the top emerging artists. The performers in this festival were selected by Winnetka resident and founder/owner ValsList Music and ValsListRadio, who is one of the creators of the festival and has herself received acclaim from the likes of WXRT, Oprah magazine and the New York Times for her music picking ability. According to Ms. Haller “these are important artists to know, who are quickly gaining traction and garnering top accolades in the music industry. This fest will give concertgoers the opportunity to see the best new talent.”

The Winnetka Music Festival opens on Friday night the 23rd of June. Then throughout the afternoon and into the evening on Saturday people will be able to stroll the streets of Winnetka and hear artists such as Logan Brill, named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the top emerging country artists, Heather Maloney and Band and many more. In addition to hearing top emerging artists attendees will be able to sample craft beers or wine and unique food trucks. Families are also welcome and can enjoy the children’s stage where kids can listen to music, participate in music and even learn some music.

Executing an event of this scale and quality has only been possible through the work of many different groups. Myers said that “the Winnetka Music Festival is truly a collaborative project of ValsList, the Village of Winnetka, the Winnetka Park District, local business and the Chamber of Commerce as well as residents. Creating something as new and exciting and on this scale has really taken a joint effort.”
