‘Beautiful Words’ with Timothy Botts

A live demonstration at Covenant Village of Northbrook

Using giant markers on poster paper, internationally recognized calligraphy artist Timothy Botts will create a work of art during his presentation “Beautiful Words” on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall at Covenant Village of Northbrook, located at 2625 Techny Road, Northbrook.

Botts describes most of his work as “word pictures” — words expressed to look like what they mean. His technique combines letterforms reaching back as far as the first century with contemporary graphic design principles and a freedom of brush learned during three years in Japan. In addition to a live demonstration, Botts will share pieces of his work inspired by the Bible’s Book of Psalms.

While studying art in college, he discovered calligraphy and a natural link between his art and spirituality. He is currently working with Masterpiece Ministries with the purpose to help young people identify and develop their artistic gifts in the context of Christian Community.
