Central School May Get Resource Officer

Question of support on ballot for Glencoe voters, but board of education will ultimately decide.

The Glencoe School Safety Project, a parent group, wants to place a full-time school resource officer at Central School in support of a referendum to appear on the April 7 ballot asking voters if they would support the hiring of the officer.

The officer, which the Glencoe News reported would be paid with private funds, would head-up “everything from anti-bullying and internet safety programs, to developing school safety and security initiatives and assisting during medical emergencies.”

While the question will be on the ballot, it is essentially just asking voters what they think. Regardless of whether or not a majority support it, the Glencoe School District 35 Board of Education would still need to approve it.
