Chicago Symphony Orchestra Will Live Score 'Home Alone' Screenings
The famous music of the iconic holiday classic will be played live during a pair of showing in downtown Chicago.
Nothing tells you the holiday season is on its way like the dozens of times the movie ‘Home Alone’ will appear on television.
But this year, fans can enjoy the iconic film live, with the best musicians in Chicagoland providing the score.
Everyone knows the story. 8-year-old Kevin McAllister (played by Macauley Culkin) is left home alone by his family, who make a holiday trip to France without realizing Kevin never got on the airplane. Kevin then manages the thwart attempted home burglaries by a pair of bumbling thieves and keeps himself together before his family returns.

As recognizable as the story line is the music, though. And for the film’s 25th Anniversary, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will perform the movie’s score live during three showings of the film at Symphony Center, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The screenings will take place at 7 p.m. on December 11, 3 p.m. on December 12 and 3 p.m. on December 13 at the downtown Chicago Center. Get tickets here.

The movie - written by the late John Hughes, a longtime North Shore resident - was filmed primarily in Winnetka, Evanston and Wilmette. The iconic house is on Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka and the popular “chase” scene, when Kevin is frightened by a man who eventually helps him and unwittingly steals a toothbrush, takes the viewer through Hubbard Woods Park on Green Bay Road.
Film Concerts Live is hosting the special screenings, which are also taking place in Milwaukee and Cincinnati. In the movie, Macaulay Culkin stars as 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, who’s accidentally left home alone by his parents for the holidays.
“Home Alone” will also be screened at certain local theaters on Sunday, November 8 and Wednesday, November 11.
