The North Shore representative spoke with fifth and sixth-grade students in Winnetka last month.

WINNETKA, IL — Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston) took questions from students and staff at an all-school assembly at The Skokie School in Winnetka last month. For this school year, state and federal legislators have been asked to "shadow a principal," so Skokie School Principal Kelly Tess invited local representatives. Schakowsky expressed interest in visiting and was the first of several elected officials set to attend

Schakowsky, a 10-term member of Congress representing the 9th District on the North Shore, spoke to fifth and sixth-grade students Sept. 25, taking a variety of questions. She discussed learning through failure, serving others through leadership and making a difference in the world.
