D-36 Superintendent Receives Award Of Excellence

Winnetka Public Schools Superintendent Trisha Kocanda was awarded at the 2018 Distinguished Service Awards May 11.

WINNETKA-GLENCOE, IL - From Winnetka Public School District 36: Dr. Trisha Kocanda, Superintendent of The Winnetka Public Schools, received the Award of Excellence in the 2018 Distinguished Service Awards Program, sponsored by the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA), at Bolingbrook Golf Club in May 2018. A variety of public education stakeholders were honored for their support of education in the categories of Administrator, Board of Education Member, Community Member, Faculty/Certified Staff, Parent, Support Staff and Team. Entries were judged against criteria of excellence, and only those receiving top scores in a variety of areas received awards. NSPRA chapter members from Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin served as judges for the program.

“The Distinguished Service Awards event is an opportunity to honor deserving education staff and supporters of local school districts,” said INSPRA President Becky Koltz, Communications Specialist for Community High School District 94. “This statewide program brings recognition to the award recipient and the nominating school district. It is a wonderful way to highlight the successes of public schools and to thank various stakeholders for acting as public relations ambassadors for education.”

The mission of INSPRA is to provide a source of connection, collaboration and professional development for school communicators in order to strengthen support for Illinois public schools. Workshops and programs take place throughout the year, providing opportunities for members to learn and grow in their craft. The Distinguished Service Awards luncheon is a highlight of the year and is attended by communications professionals, superintendents, board of education members and other school leaders.
