District 36 Names New Principal Of Carleton Washburne School

Andrew Fenton, the principal of Oak Grove School in Libertyville Township, joins Winnetka Public Schools next month.

From D36: The Winnetka Public Schools announces that Mr. Andrew Fenton has been unanimously approved by the School Board as Principal of Carleton Washburne School. Mr. Fenton will begin his new position on July 1, 2019. He will work with District Administration to ensure a smooth transition into the position.

Mr. Fenton comes to District 36 after four years serving as Principal at Oak Grove School, a K-8 school in District 68 (Libertyville Township). Prior to his current role, he was Assistant Principal at Twin Groves Middle School in Buffalo Grove. His extensive leadership experience also includes experience as a middle school language arts and social studies teacher at Field Middle School in Northbrook and Chicago International Charter School. Mr. Fenton has a Masters degree in educational leadership from Concordia University and a B.A. in Elementary Education and communications from Lake Forest College. He anticipates his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University in December 2019.

“Mr. Fenton has strong commitment to child-centered education and an enthusiasm for building a positive school culture for students and teachers,” says Superintendent Trisha Kocanda. “His superb communication skills, dedication to cultivating exemplary instructional environments, and knowledge of best practices in education will be an asset to our school community.”
