Rabbi Donniel Hartman, a Jewish Israeli Modern
Orthodox rabbi, educator, and President of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, Israel, will share his
approach to leading Jewish issue when he addresses the Aitz Hayim Center for Jewish Living on May 3 and 4. The session will be held at 1185 Sheridan Road in the Education Center at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe.
As part of his address, Rabbi Donniel Hartman will share with congregants and guests the Torah that his late father, David Hartman, developed over his lifetime of study. David Hartman was a leading philosopher who made
aliyah to Israel after the Six Day War and struggled with applying Judaism to a state intoxicated with triumphalism and caught between those who ignored the implications of a Jewish state and those who ignored the values of Jewish
insights and values.
The May 3 event will be held beginning at 6:30 PM, followed by a dinner ($20.00). Reservations are required.
