Fake Construction Worker Collects Thousands For Work Not Done: Winnetka, Glencoe Crime Blotters

WINNETKA, IL — The following is the most recent crime blotter from the Winnetka Police Department and the Glencoe Public Safety Department.
Winnetka
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
- Tracking - Feb. 23 at 4:28 p.m.
- A resident discovered that a tracking device was attached to their vehicle. They told police they believed an unknown person attached the device sometime between Feb. 14 and 23.
THEFT

- Residential - Feb. 25 at 1:42 p.m.
- A victim turned their back for approximately five minutes, only to find that someone had taken their suitcase from the street. The amount of loss is estimated to be more than $5,000.
FRAUD
- Tracking - Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.
- A resident reported a person claiming to be a construction employee collected payment for services between Oct. 18 and Dec. 22, only for the work to not have been done. The amount of loss is estimated to be more than $5,000.

- Traffic - Feb. 10 at 10:07 a.m.
- A 27-year-old Bellwood man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance. He was also cited for disobeying a stop sign and making an improper turn.
- Traffic - Feb. 10 at 10:07 a.m.
- A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for making an improper left turn.
- Traffic - Feb. 10 at 10:07 a.m.
- A 19-year-old Schaumberg man was arrested for speeding 26-34mph over the legal limit.

ARRESTS
- Warrant - Feb. 27 at 3:30 a.m.
- A Bellwood man was arrested by a patrol officer who saw his vehicle back into a parking space. The officer learned the man had an active warrant for failing to appear in DuPage County.
- DUI - Feb. 27 at 5:34 p.m.
- A Des Plaines man was arrested following a traffic stop. He was cited with aggravated fleeing and eluding, improper lane usage, no turn signal lights, operating a vehicle while
using an electronic communication device, criminal damage to property, DUI and DUI 0.08 or more
