PEER Services is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. PEER Services provides community-based substance use prevention and treatment services to teens, adults and families in Northern Cook County, including Evanston, Maine, New Trier, Niles and Northfield Townships, and the north side of Chicago. PEER Services reduces the harms of substance use, addiction and stigma by engaging youth and adults with innovative prevention programming and by supporting people on their path to recovery through holistic, evidence-based treatment. We provide affirming services to all in need, regardless of their ability to pay. The Cashman family from Winnetka and the Hamman family from Glencoe were out in the snow on Sunday on behalf of the Sacred Heart Mens Club collecting the food and donations that will support the St. Columbanus Food Pantry on Chicago's South Side. Northbrook Farmers Market | Cherry Lane & Meadow Road

The Northbrook Farmers Market is once again asking the community to come together for Summer Stock 2026, a collection drive benefiting the Northfield Township Food Pantry.
While food donations are always important, Summer Stock focuses on everyday household and personal-care necessities that cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits but are essential for local families.
Most-needed items include:
<ul><li>Paper towels and toilet paper</li><li>Laundry detergent</li><li>Dish soap</li><li>Women’s personal hygiene products</li><li>Shampoo and lotion</li><li>Other household and personal-care essentials</li></ul>
Cash donations are also greatly appreciated and allow the pantry to purchase food and supplies where they are needed most.
“Cash donations are appreciated and help the pantry purchase food and supplies as needed,” said Northfield Township Supervisor Shiva Mohsenzadeh.
The Northbrook Farmers Market is grateful to Edward Jones–Northbrook financial advisors Magdy Abd and Saad Alhiti for their generous sponsorship of Summer Stock 2026.
“We are honored to sponsor a collection drive for the food pantry,” said Abd. “We think it’s great that our local farmers market makes this effort to help those who need assistance. It’s all about community.”
<h3>Easy Drop-Off at the Market</h3>
Bring your donations to the market on Wednesday, August 19. Volunteers will be available to help unload donations from your car—just stop by the Welcome Booth for assistance.
Northfield Township, which operates the food pantry, will also be at the market with information about the pantry and other services available to residents.
Summer Stock is part of the market’s longstanding commitment to helping fight food insecurity in our community. Every Wednesday, market volunteers collect fresh produce donated by farmers for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. Over the years, those donations have totaled more than 100,000 pounds of fresh food.

Held at the newly renovated Glen Rowan House, this series explores both the constraints on democracy—such as recent democratic backsliding, the Constitution’s roadblocks on majority rule, and the weakening of voting rights to name a few—and strategies to overcome them and enhance democracy in America. Each week will highlight a new topic and the opening and closing sessions will begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments prior to class.
Both the educational content and social receptions will offer opportunities to build community, engage with College leadership, and learn more about ongoing campus initiatives.
