Glencoe Fitness Center Open At Takiff Center
The new Glencoe Park District's fitness area had its first day of regular hours Tuesday.

GLENCOE, IL — There's a new way to generate some heat in a healthy way as Glencoe Fitness is now open at the Takiff Center. The just-opened Glencoe Park District exercise area has 13 pieces of cardio equipment, strength machines, free weights and other workout gear.
The goal of the new facility to be "inviting" and "unintimidating," according to the district. Group fitness classes, personal training and child care are all available at an additional cost.
"We're very proud to introduce Glencoe Fitness to you and the community, our friends and our neighbors," said Park Board President Dudley Onderdon. "With the opening of Glencoe Fitness, we are now in a position to help our community get fit and go further with their fitness goals."

At Saturday's grand opening and ribbon cutting, Glencoe resident Anne Frank said the recent frigid weather made her especially appreciate the new facility.
"I'm thrilled that it is here," she told Pioneer Press. "I like to walk outside as much as possible but in this kind of weather, you have to be inside."
Glencoe Fitness members get a 20 percent discount on all group classes, and those who join before Jan. 31 will have the $125 cost new membership fee waived.
Regular hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
