Glencoe Parks Hires New Parks and Maintenance Director
Chris Leiner will be the third person to hold position for the district since 1930.
The Glencoe Parks District has hired Chris Leiner as the third person to serve as its director of parks and maintenance in the 103-year history of the district.
Leiner, currently the Assistant Superintendent of Parks and Planning at the Des Plaines Park District, will begin in his new role on May 4.
“With our Master Plan almost completed, Chris is joining the Park District at an exciting time. As a forward-thinking leader, Chris will bring a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the Park District. I am confident Chris will quickly take the lead on many of our current and upcoming Master Plan projects,” said Lisa Sheppard, Executive Director of Glencoe Parks.

The position in Glencoe has a history of longevity. Leiner’s hiring comes a couple weeks after the retirement announcement from Rick Bold, who has been director of parks and maintenance since 1978. Bold replaced Henry Kalk, who was the director of parks from 1930 to 1978.
Park officials were unsure of the arrangement from 1902 to 1930, throwing out the possibility the role was not considered an official job during that time.

Leiner was selected as the best of 27 candidates for the opening and was one of only two given a facility tour as a finalist.
