Glencoe Public Safety Director Resigns; Deputy Chief Named Interim Leader

GLENCOE, IL — Glencoe Public Safety Department Director Sean Loughran resigned last week, citing family obligations.

Village Manager Phil Kiraly said he accepted Loughran’s resignation and appointed Deputy Chief Andy Perley to serve as interim public safety director. Loughran’s last day in the office was Sept. 22, according to the village.

Loughran served the village and the Public Safety Department since 2023. During his time in the role, the village said he helped streamline recruitment and hiring, expanded safety and security coordination with District 35 and local institutions and houses of worship, developed and supported mental health support programs for officers, and helped establish the Glencoe Public Safety Foundation.

Kiraly announced that Perley will step into the interim post. Perley is a career Glencoe Public Safety Officer who joined the department in 2008 and has served as deputy chief since 2022, according to the announcement.

Kiraly thanked Loughran for his work in the village and pointed to continuity in daily operations as the transition begins.

“We sincerely thank Sean for his service to Glencoe and his contributions to the Public Safety Department, and we wish him well,” said Kiraly. “Our focus is on supporting our excellent Public Safety team and continuing to provide the important services our community relies on every day.”
