Glencoe Schools Considering $5K Tuition For Full-Day Kindergarten
Fee could be needed to help pay for startup costs of suggested program.

If full-day kindergarten is to be implemented at Glencoe District 35 schools, a fee of as much as $5,000 could come with it.
The board of education there mentioned that as a possibility to help offset the startup costs of personnel and materials in offering a full-day program beginning in the 2016-17 school year, according to the Glencoe News.
At least one parent has already voiced public concerns.

“I know a lot of things go into it,” Stephanie Boron said. “If you have three kids and you are considering moving into Glencoe, that’s $15,000 you have to think about.”
“Perhaps there should be no fee,” added board member Eddie Chez. “ [Maybe] it should be part of the costs borne by the district as part of providing an education.”

But with a projected $685,000 total price tag associated with a full-time program, District 35 Board President Gary Ruben said it may be better to institute the fee from the beginning, rather than adding it later when it becomes necessary.
